The wedding of my beautiful bestie, Kristin Clark, brought me to Charleston. (See the gorgeous evening with #finallychambless). I’m not going to lie, I did not think I was going to enjoy Charleston as much as I did. The South is foreign territory to me. It’s just a different way of life for a born and bred Northerner. I have to say, even though Charleston is small and quaint, it sure has a lot going on! I ate my weight in food and explored beautiful scenic views the entire time with the love of my life, Naty from A Love Affair with Fashion. Here are some of my fave things in Charleston:
BEST BRUNCH: Poogan’s Porch
Apparently this place is haunted. And that makes it more enticing. What I loved about this place was the staff. So friendly and helpful. Not gunna lie, the way we eat in NYC is not the way people enjoy a meal in the South. The amount of time I was told to lower my voice and the amount of looks I received when I laughed. Girl. Shaking my head. But at Poogan’s Porch they welcomed my being and served me a delicious meal to enjoy! Things I want to repeat: this brunch.
BEST ROOFTOP BAR: The Watch
Modern, sleek and chic. These words describe The Watch. The view was incredible and the atmosphere was more than enjoyable. I went to three rooftop bars (all were enjoyable) but this one took the prize. I spent too many hour enjoying the ambiance.
BEST FIND: 167 Raw
With a weekend of binging on southern comfort food aka lots of carbs, I need a refreshing break. A raw bar was the answer. I downed oysters and shrimp. The staff was helpful in choosing what to consume. I really enjoyed the small, intimate atmosphere. It felt like this restie could be planted in Williamsburg and thrive.
