10 Style Tips

October 18, 2010

I received a men’s style advertisement in the mail. Colin Stark, a GQ Style Correspondent left some advice for different scenarios.

  1. Give your suit a new look each season by varying the accessories. A new dress shirt or tie can change the whole presentation.
  2. Add a subtle pattern for contrast when wearing one color from head to toe.
  3. Make a strong statement by mixing a bold shirt and tie with a sleek, slim-fitting suit.
  4. In the colder season, its’ a good idea to get a suit separates jacket in a size bigger so you can layer a sweater underneath.
  5. When it comes to mixing patterns, keep colors in the same palette.
  6. Purple can be subtle or attention-grabbing. Wear it with white for a royal contrast.
  7. Basics don’t have to be boring. Play with patterns and colors for a new mix every day.
  8. A classic wool jacket takes you from work to the weekend and everywhere you want to go.
  9. Leather is versatile. You can wear it with your favorite jeans and tee or slacks and a tie.
  10. Dress shoes are a must with your suit. For a formal look, wear black shoes with black or navy suits; brown shoes go with navy or gray.

I normally shop at Macys, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, and J. Crew. I see you regularly on Macys catalogue. I am very particular in dressing up – business and casual. Would you share some tips on the appropriate in-seam length for dress pants especially?

    I appreciate your feedback

    Thank you very much.
